Air Quality in BREEAM Assessments

For Air Quality Specialists

For BREAAM Assessors that are Air Quality Monitoring specialists or Environmental Consultants with experience in Air Quality Monitoring our equipment is ideal for assessing the levels of Formaldehyde and VOCs inside both new and old buildings.

We can provide a UKAS accredited analytical service for both formaldehyde and VOCs.

Using pumped tubes our method can detect formaldehyde down to ppb levels. These tubes are usually pumped over a number of hours.

For VOC monitoring for BREEAM we recommend a Tenax tube which can detect compounds in the carbon range C6-C28, BREEAM requirements are normally total VOC analysis in the range C6-C16. In additional to a total VOC analysis our analysts can run a general scan and determine the most abundant compounds in the air, idenfification of these VOCs may help locate their source if the results are high.

Gradko can also supply the pre-calibrated pumps necessary for your tubes.

Sources of VOC and formaldehyde pollution in new buildings:

  • Building materials
  • Paints and permanent markers
  • Adhesives
  • Refrigerants
  • Furnishings

If you would like any more information then please visit our VOC and formaldehyde pages or contact us directly.

Our UKAS accredited formaldehyde analysis can be used to determine the levels of formaldehyde in air to ppb levels. We recommend pumping the formaldehyde tubes at a rate of 200 ml/min.

Our total VOC analysis using pumped tubes provides a result for the toal VOCs in the carbon range C6-C16. We recommend pumping the VOC tubes at a rate of 50 ml/min. Alternatively if you wish to passively expose the VOC tubes then this can be done over a period of 1-4 weeks.

Our reports are provided as standard in 10 working days from the date we receive the tubes, fast-track services are available, please contact us for details.
